About Fluid Couplings
A fluid coupling, also known as a hydraulic coupling, transmits rotating power between two shafts using a fluid instead of a direct mechanical connection. It consists of an input impeller and an output turbine wheel, which are not physically connected. The impellers rotation moves the fluid, which then spins the turbine, transferring torque smoothly and providing overload protection by allowing slippage during jams or overloads.
